Examples: C4 E4 G4 · F#4:2 lasts 2 beats · Bb3/8 is an eighth note · R inserts a rest.
How it works
Type a sequence
Enter notes such as C4 E4 G4. Use sharps or flats, add R for a rest, and attach :2 or /8 when a note needs a different length.
Choose the tempo
Set a tempo from 30 to 300 BPM. Each note lasts one beat unless you specify a duration.
Generate the file
The browser creates a single-track piano MIDI file and downloads it immediately.

Text sequence syntax
- Use scientific pitch names: middle C is C4; F#4 and Bb3 are both supported.
- A colon gives duration in beats: C4:2 lasts two beats. Slash notation uses note values: C4/8 is an eighth note.
- Use R, R:2, or R/8 to insert silence without creating a note.
- Separate tokens with spaces or commas; the first invalid token is shown so it can be corrected quickly.
Frequently asked questions
Does text to MIDI use AI?
No. This tool maps the note names and durations you enter directly into a MIDI sequence, entirely in the browser.
Which note names are supported?
Notes A through G, octaves, sharps, and flats are supported, including forms such as C4, F#5, and Bb3.
Can I add rhythm and rests?
Yes. Notes default to one beat. Add :2 for two beats, /8 for an eighth note, or use R for a rest.
What instrument is used?
The generated file uses General MIDI program 0, acoustic grand piano. You can change the instrument later in a DAW or notation app.
